Progress continues .....

We have just been in to see Douglas and the slow improvement continues.
He has been changed to a C-Pak ventilator that essentially means he is free breathing and he appears to be tolerating it well but is having to work quite hard.
His responses continue to improve but I suspect he's getting a bit bolshie at the repeated requests to perform!!!
His lung infection continues to improve.
He'll be back on the full ventilator overnight to rest and then C-Pak again tomorrow.
He had a very nice nurse giving him a shampoo yesterday that involved a microwaveable shower cap affair and he looked as though he was really reveling in the head massage that went with it!!
Each little improvement is so very heart lightening that it's difficult to accept just how far we have all to go.
Keep the good vibes coming!

Iain

Thurs 15th - popped in to see you today Dougie - I know you must be getting frustrated about how slow you must feel your progress is, but for me not having seen you for a few days, you've come on leaps and bounds, and are looking so much better (no wonder you've got all the female nurses wanting you to squeeze their hands!). You not only squeezed the nurses hand with both of your hands, you moved both feet and flexed them against her hand. I even got some smiles out of you by telling your Mum about our St Andrews adventure when, not letting a mere barrier get in your way, you drove your dad's car over rocks and through bushes to get the car out of the car park - sorry for dropping you in it!! much love, Jules x
